Very small White Bay power station and Rooftop paintings are best viewed

Study for Disused

Study for Disused
Oil on canvas. 12.5 x 17.5 x 3.8 cm (5 x 7 x 1.5 inches)
This little painting shows the perfect abandoned industrial site. Over murky, turbulent water (think oil slicked sludgy toxic chemical pools), a huge abandoned shell of what once generated so much energy looms in a strange eerie silence. It's not like this at all but White Bay power station can appear quite lonely and forbidding at night.

Another look

Another look
Oil on canvas. 12.5 x 17.5 x 3.8 cm (5 x 7 x 1.5 inches)
This is the same view as the previous post, only at a different time of day and a little further back. It has a totally different feeling about it.

Across the water

Across the water
Oil on canvas. 17.5 x 12.5 x 3.8 cm (7 x 5 x 1.5 inches)
This is a view from Jubilee Park at Glebe, looking back towards Rozelle across Blackwattle Bay. As the sun sets, the water becomes a deep inky blue if the weather is just right. The darkness (almost threatening look) of the power station is a sharp contrast to the calm of the day's end.

Shades of Grey

Shades of Grey
Oil on canvas. 12.5 x 17.5 x 3.8 cm (5 x 7 x 1.5 inches)
Looking up, this is from Victoria Road heading towards the city.
There was a lovely soft light on a hazy afternoon. I like the negative/positive shapes here and may develop it into a larger, more detailed work. This will definitely disappear because this is part of the section that's suffering from concrete cancer.

White Bay Nocturne II

White Bay Nocturne II
Oil on canvas. 12.5 x 17.5 x 3.8 cm (5 x 7 x 1.5 inches)
A last snatch at industrial Rozelle. The huge Power Station structure silhouetted against a bright sky (that would have once been clouded with coal dust), just catching the odd of sunshine with a foreground of parked cars.

The Gatehouse Roof?

SPS7
Oil on canvas. 15.5 x 15.5 x 3.8 cm (6 x 6 x 1.5 inches)
When entering the power station from Robert Street, you pass a little building
with a Federation roof. The gatehouse perhaps? I'm not sure. The only identification on the building reads SPS 7.

The yellow crane

The yellow crane
Oil on canvas. 15.5 x 15.5 x 3.8 cm (6 x 6 x 1.5 inches)

I was going to call this "looking at a yellow crane" because the windows in the abandoned structure felt like eyes watching.
